Important Dates: Deadline for abstracts: June 30th 2007 Climate: The weather in Greece is fairly uniform throughout Greece. Due to its geographical position, the weather of Greece is characterized by mild winters and warm summers cooled by different kind of seasonal winds. You will find bellow the average range of temperature in degrees Celsius and the precipitation average.
Currency: Greece is participating in the zone of Euro, but most banks will exchange foreign currency and are open Monday to Thursday 08:00-14:30hrs and on Friday from 08:00-14:00hrs. In addition to local banks, many major international banks have branches or representative offices in Thessaloniki.
Time Zone: GMT + 2 (GMT + 3 from last Sunday in March to last Sunday in October).
Voltage: 220 volts AC, 50Hz. Round two-pin plugs are used. North American require a transformer and British an adaptor.

Mobile telephone:The network coverage is in general good in most parts of the country except from some areas: mountains and in some small islands. The main operators are Vodafone, Cosmote and Tim.
Air Transportation:
The public transport system in Greece is fairly  good. Most cities and islands in Greece are accessible by airplane. For information call the airline of your choice.
Report the loss of or damage to your baggage immediately.
If your baggage contains valuables, declare them before traveling! In the event of loss, you will be compensated for the full amount declared. 
Passport and Visa requirements:

  • Formalities for EU Citizens. For the citizens of the EU, no passports are required. An ID is enough. There are no currency limit, customs formalities and vaccines required.
  • Formalities for Non EU Citizens. For the citizens from another country of the EU, a valid passport is requires and for the visitors of some third countries, a visa is obligatory. There are currency limits and customs formalities. For more information, contact your embassy.
  • Formalities for animals. Animals from another country of the EU require a health certificate.
